Friday Night Lite Debate Tournament at Porter

The goal here is to get kids practice with debate without taking the whole weekend, especially with their UIL regional congress legislation and CX! We will offer only three events, CX, Congress, and LD (UIL). Each will run basically all evening on Friday with awards given out at the end, with all students being able to participate the whole time (i.e. no breaks), while leaving Saturday for other tournaments or the rest that we could all use. Tournament will run on September 23rd, and schedule is below, but will have plenty of rounds for all! Trophies for the top 3 in each event! It will be $20 for LD and Congress, and $30 for CX.  Drops will be charged double after 9/19 at 5pm.

Judging: All schools must provide one LD or CX judge for every 2 entries, or their entries will be DROPPED. In accordance with this, there will be no judge fees. For Congress, 1 judge is expected for every 6 entries, and you should be prepared that you may wind up judging the other debate events as well. Please indicate to me if your preference is CX, and I will be more than happy to oblige and keep you in those rounds.

Cross Entering: Cross entering is not allowed as all events will run simultaneous

Registration closes and fees lock at 5pm on September 16th.

Schedule:

LD Rounds at 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, and 7:30pm (round 4 power-matched; all single-flighted)

CX Rounds at 4pm, 5:30pm, and 7:30pm (round 3 power-matched)

Congress sessions from 4pm to 6pm and 7pm to 9pm (all students in both sessions)

Food and Drink: We will have a small concession stand with snacks and drinks, but will not be offering dinner options.  Please feel free to order food for your students for during their breaks.
